Program Types


Community Drug Treatment Program

Community Drug Treatment Program is a "peer-led-peer driven" Therapeutic Community (TC) which allows the offender to become an active participant in their recovery. The offender learns how to apply the TC concepts which are essential in maintaining a drug-free lifestyle in a social context. The program is 6-8 months in length. The program participants are male/female felony drug offenders sentenced by the local courts to participate in drug treatment programs as a deterrent from incarceration as a condition of probation.

  • Grief Resolution/Sexual Survivors (Women’s Facility)
  • HIV/AIDS/Communicable Disease Awareness

  • Parenting
  • TC Concepts


Substance Abuse Transition Re-Entry Program

Substance Abuse Transition Re-Entry Program is also a TC that provides intensive substance abuse services from inmates that have a remaining sentence of 24 to 36 months. The program assists inmates nearing release in making a successful transition from the correctional institution to their home community.

This program provides the following substance abuse modules that each inmate must complete while in the re-entry program: Family Development, Victim Awareness, Anger Management, Transition classes, Criminal Thinking/Thinking Errors, Addiction Education, Budgeting, and Employment Re-Entry Skills.

The program also provides the following educational, vocational, psycho-educational and skill building:

Work Release Programs

Work Release Programs are designed to allow incarcerated inmates who are near completion of their sentence to work at paid employment within the community, but housed at a Work Release Facility.

Programs offered:

  • Addiction Education, if mandated
  • Bible Studies
  • Bridge Builders (Spiritual 12 Step program)
  • Employment and Re-entry skills
  • Individual and group counseling, if mandated
  • Life skills training
  • On and Off-Site AA/NA Meetings

Benefits of Work Release:

  • Inmates released from work release are less likely to recidivate
  • Monterey savings prior to release;
  • Public benefits if convicted felons are gainfully employed;
