Site Description
The Auburndale Bridge is a 50 bed residential Therapeutic Community for adult female felony level drug offenders with substance abuse/dependency and criminal behavior issues. This site opened its doors on February 1, 1997 as the Auburndale Bridge. This Bridge is situated in Polk County and receives referrals from Volusia, Brevard, Seminole, Indian River, Pasco, Lake, Pinellis, and Hillsborough counties.
The Auburndale Bridge has 16 employees, two of whom are part time. We also have a chaplain that addresses the spiritual concerns of the clients and two probation officers from the Department of Corrections assigned to the facility.
Program Type
Community Drug Treatment Program is a Therapeutic Community (TC) "peer-led-peer driven" which allows the offender to become an active participant in their recovery. The offender learns how to apply the TC concepts which are essential in maintaining a drug-free lifestyle in a social context. The program is 6-8 months in length. The program participants are male/female felony drug offenders sentenced by the local courts to participate in drug treatment programs as a deterrent from incarceration as a condition of probation.
